Dr. Garry Millard is passionate about providing quality, compassionate dental care to children and adults. He joined Mountain Family in 2011, leading the development of Mountain Family Health Center’s first dental clinic in Rifle. Dr. Millard led the development of Mountain Family’s second dental site, the Mobile Dental Van, and the new SMILES Dental Project school-based tele-dentistry sites.A Montana native, Dr. Millard received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota in 1985 and completed his periodontal training in 1993. He served as a Dental Officer in the US Navy for 10 years. Dr. Millard enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, golfing, hiking, and raising his four children.
Cathy Lettice is originally from Buffalo, New York, where she received her training at SUNY Erie Community College. She became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2006 and enjoys keeping her skills and knowledge up-to-date through continuing education courses. Cathy moved to the mountains of Colorado in 2012 with her family and joined Mountain Family in 2016. She is licensed in both New York and Colorado, and recently received her permit from the State of Colorado to place Interim Therapeutic Restorations in small cavities. She enjoys running, hiking and life in the mountains.
Crystal Mecham has a sincere passion for providing and promoting the best oral health care possible. She is dedicated to the SMILES Dental Project at Mountain Family Health Centers, and she hopes to help both children and adolescents in the SMILES program have a better quality of life. Crystal received her Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely in 2007, and she joined Mountain Family Health Centers in 2016. She is an active member of both the American Dental Hygiene Association and the Colorado Dental Hygiene Association. Crystal enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking, and riding horses.
Dr. Rivers is the dentist for our mobile Mountain Family Dental Van, currently located in El Jebel. He is passionate about restoring dental health, using a wide range of dentistry practices to achieve it. In his free time, he enjoys University of Kansas basketball, snowboarding, mountain biking and enjoying everything the Roaring Fork Valley has to offer. Dr. Rivers earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine and completed a one-year hospital residency in general dentistry at Truman Medical Centers in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dr. Glass’s interest in dentistry for underserved areas began when he saw the value that a nonprofit clinic brought to remote populations in his home state of Virginia. Ever since, he has been passionate about dentistry and community service. Dr. Glass and his wife came west after he completed dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University. Along with their dog Oso, they enjoy being in the mountains, climbing, skiing, and biking.
Anai joined Mountain Family in 2016, returning to the community where she grew up. Her focus is on education, preventive care and motivating patients towards better oral health. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Anai enjoys building relationships with patients from all of the diverse communities of the Western Slope. She is a graduate of Colorado Northwestern Community College. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, exercising, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family.
Brett Deutscher joined Mountain Family Health Centers in 2014, bringing a passion for wellness, nutrition and anti-aging medicine, which she has studied for continuing education. Originally from Florida, Brett received her Master of Science in Nursing from Regis University in Denver in 2011. Brett is a 32-year resident of Colorado who came to ski and never left. She loves to practice her Spanish with the locals and has spent time living with Honduran and Mexican families to be fully immersed in the language and culture. Brett is a member of the Colorado Nurses Association and is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Brett enjoys biking, hiking and healthy gourmet cooking.
Susan Orcutt joined Mountain Family in 2008 bringing her eagerness to care for our medically underserved community members. She has a specific passion for the care of women and strongly believes that promoting the health of women is imperative to the well-being of our families and our entire community. Susan received her Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 2007. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Colorado Society of Advanced Practice Nurses, and also oversees clinical family medicine and nurse practitioner students at Mountain Family Health Centers. Susan is a Colorado native who enjoys spending time with family outdoors.
Dr. Petrie has practiced medicine in the Vail Valley since 1979, and was previously recognized as Colorado Family Physician of the Year. Dr. Petrie earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1976 and started the Eagle Care Clinic for underserved patients in Eagle County, in 1994. He was excited to continue practicing medicine at the clinic when Mountain Family assumed ownership in 2014. Dr. Petrie is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, and also sees patients at Vail Valley Medical Center and is the Eagle County Health Officer. Dr. Petrie travels abroad on medical missions, enjoys being a grandfather, and is an active elder at Eagle River Presbyterian Church.
A native of Glenwood Springs, Dr. Chris Tonozzi is a family physician and a self-proclaimed “data nerd.” Dr. Tonozzi was Mountain Family’s first physician on the Western Slope. He returned to his home town of Glenwood after seeing the need for affordable health care for low income residents. He earned his degree in medicine from the University of Colorado in 1991. Dr. Tonozzi has a special interest in pediatrics and travel medicine. He is also passionate about digitizing medical care and making sure Mountain Family is at the forefront of data-driven health care. He is board-certified in Family Medicine and also sees patients at Valley View Hospital. Dr. Tonozzi loves to spend time traveling and being outdoors with his family, skiing, kayaking and trail running.
Before joining Mountain Family in 2000, Jenny served several years in the United States Peace Corps at clinics in Yemen, then at a mission in Guatemala, and then at a Free Standing Birth Center in the Bronx, New York City, where she developed her midwife birthing skills. She holds a Certified Nurse Midwife degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Colorado, and a Certified Nursing degree from the University of Rochester. Jenny contributes time at Mountain Valley Developmental Center, and she enjoys exploring Colorado’s natural wonders with her husband and two daughters.
Sandy grew up in an Air Force family, traveling the globe, but she always considered Colorado home. Sandy was thrilled to join Mountain Family in 2008, moving from Akron, Ohio. Prior to that she had worked in various emergency departments and urgent care facilities in Ohio. She also worked with Dr. B.S. Bonyo in his inner-city office and was instrumental in developing a health clinic in Dr. Bonyo’s Kenyan village. Sandy is co-founder of Bonyo’s Kenya Mission, a 501c3 dedicated to ongoing support of the clinic and a growing child educational sponsorship program. Sandy attended University of Texas in Austin for her undergraduate degree, competing in cross country and track. She then completed her medical degree at The Medical College of Ohio and residency in emergency medicine at St. Vincent Medical Center/The Toledo Hospital. She is board certified in Emergency Medicine and primarily does acute care at Mountain Family. Sandy is also a designated civil surgeon approved to carry out immigration medical examinations. When not working, Sandy enjoys all the activities the area has to offer.
Dr. Heckert joined Mountain Family in 2014 after completing her residency. She attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, and grew up in Delaware. As an osteopathic physician, she is trained in manipulation to treat a variety of musculoskeletal and internal conditions–a discipline that fit with her long interest in exercise science and nutrition. After hours, Dr. Heckert enjoys skiing, running, rock climbing, and learning Spanish.
At Mountain Family since 2016, Dr. Rieves is dedicated to treating underserved populations, deciphering complicated cases, and helping patients work towards healthier living. She has worked extensively in women’s health and holistic medicine, in a career that has taken her from her native Oklahoma to Maine, Seattle, Arizona and then Colorado. She is a 1996 graduate of the University of Oklahoma Medical College. When she is not working, she enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and skiing.
Before coming to Mountain Family in 2016, Mary spent years working with cancer patients and the underprivileged in Memphis, Tennessee. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri-Barnes College of Nursing in 2003, and is a 1996 graduate in nursing from the University of Tennessee. On weekends, you’ll find Mary and her family exploring all of the fantastic outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer.
Dr. Mizner loves her role as the internal medicine consultant for MFHC, focusing on autoimmune diseases, endocrinology, and HIV care. Before returning home to Colorado in 2010, she practiced internal medicine, hospice, and HIV care for six years in Prescott, AZ. Before that, she practiced internal medicine in Northern Chile for seven years, running HIV programs in two hospitals, becoming fluent in Spanish along the way. She also spent two years in Ely, Nevada, as the only internist in an extremely rural and isolated setting. She is a former faculty member in internal medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, as well as former head of physician education for UCHSC’s AIDS Education and Training Center. Dr. Mizner earned her MD from the Yale University School of Medicine. When not in the clinic, she can be found with her family on local slopes and hiking trails.
Dr. Rusk joined Mountain Family’s Edwards clinic in 2015 after residency in family medicine in Fort Collins, CO, and medical school at the University of Utah. Unique among our staff, he actually began his career as a bioengineer in Seattle, but he missed working more personally and directly with people, and he felt driven to provide medical help to the underserved. Dr. Rusk and his wife Brianne, a local science teacher, share a passion for outdoor activities such as skiing, biking, fishing, and chasing after their yellow lab Canyon.
Carol is a rare combination of Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife. Her passion is prenatal care, lactation and care of the expanding family. Carol is very active in the community facilitating advocacy for women, babies and their supportive partners. As a bilingual provider she embraces cultural diversity and brings a sense of humor and sincerity to all who enjoy her care. A native Coloradan, she is a graduate of CU Health Sciences Center.
Diane’s passion is working with infants, children and families. She has been a champion for Eagle County’s youngest, most vulnerable residents for more than 15 years. Diane’s professional dedication focuses on childhood dental hygiene, preventative care and childhood literacy. She earned her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner degree from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1992. When Diane isn’t tirelessly caring for the next generation she enjoys reading, trail running and traveling.
A skilled internal medicine nurse, with a well established talent for the listening and diagnosing that field entails, Debra also specializes in geriatric care. After beginning her internal medicine nursing career in Alaska, she returned to Colorado, completed a pediatric fellowship and has been practicing in family/internal medicine in the Vail Valley since 1996. After work, she enjoys outdoor adventures with her husband and two sons, and she plays a wicked game of ping-pong. Debra earned her MSN degree from the University Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1992, with a dual Nurse Practitioner Adult/Geriatric specialty, and she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of New Mexico with a BSN in 1986.
Dr. Archer earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001 from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University. Dr. Archer has been practicing medicine since 2004 and is currently board-certified in Family Practice/OMT and Holistic/Integrative Medicine. Previously she was an officer in the Air Force and completed her active duty time in 2013. In the past, Dr. Archer established her own practice in Arizona and introduced an integrated care model. When not at work, she loves spending time with her two German Shepherds.
With his passion for pediatrics and adolescent medicine, John is a natural for Mountain Family’s Avon School-Based Center. He feels privileged to work with youth, and works to make going to the doctor fun and instill lifelong health habits and self-confidence. John came to Mountain Family after six years in rural medicine in the San Luis Valley of Colorado and Lander/Riverton, Wyoming. Prior to his medical training, he was a working chemist, and before that was even a kindergarten teacher. John earned his Master of Medical Science degree from Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA, where he was a 2009 outstanding graduate award winner. John is working on his Spanish conversational skills. His interests include family, music, cooking, travel, camping, sports, and reading.
Claire joined Mountain Family in 2015, after earning her Master of Physician Assistant degree from Wichita State University–a program that emphasized primary care in rural and under-served areas. Claire sees patients primarily at the Basalt clinic, where she works to help our community achieve lower rates of lifestyle-related diseases, while she also works on her skills in Spanish. Her background includes guiding on Colorado rivers and trails, as well as owning her own business marketing outdoor recreation to visitors. She enjoys spending time with her husband and son and most weekends you’ll find her surfing river waves or working on a side project that promotes women in river sports.
Tracie recently joined Mountain Family after six years in rural medicine with UMC Physician Network Services near Lubbock, Texas, where she worked in family practice, urgent care, and preventative care with an emphasis on patient education. Before that, she trained in other under-served areas in New Mexico, Colorado, Montana and Georgia. Tracie graduated in 2011 from the University of St. Francis Physician Assistant program in Albuquerque, NM. She is very excited to be a part of Mountain Family and is looking forward to all that Colorado has to offer.
Dr. Percy enjoys the broad spectrum of challenges that family medicine offers, although he has particular interests in pediatrics and preventative medicine. While he grew up in Cortez, Colorado and completed his medical residency in Salt Lake City, it was a rotation at Mountain Family that opened his eyes to the attractions of the Colorado and Roaring Fork Valleys, and he’s been here ever since. Dr. Percy earned his MD degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, after earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with honors, from Stanford University. He is working to improve his moderate Spanish. When not at work, you can find Dr. Percy with his wife (a pediatrician herself) and three kids, exploring the outdoors on foot, bike or skis, or traveling the world.
Corrinne came to Mountain Family in 2015 from Salud Family Health Centers in Fort Collins. Corrinne enjoys seeing patients of all ages, helping them achieve better health and wellness. She speaks some Spanish and is always working on getting better. She fell for Colorado while working summers in Rocky Mountain National Park as she attended Penn State University in her native Pennsylvania. Corinne moved to Colorado in 2002 to work for Salud Family Health Centers in Estes Park for a few years before returning to school, first at the Red Rocks Physician Assistant program, then earning her master’s from Saint Francis University. Corrinne’s hobbies include hiking, biking, skiing, camping and backpacking with her husband.
Natasha joined Mountain Family in 2015, and works in family medicine, preventative care and management of chronic disease. She also brings a background in musculoskeletal complaints and sports medicine. She is a 2013 graduate from Midwestern University’s Physician Assistant program in Phoenix, Arizona. A native Coloradan, Natasha enjoys running, camping and hiking, as well as traveling and knitting.
Emily Borkovec started with Mountain Family Health Centers in 2017. She is originally from Iowa, and received her undergraduate degree at Minnesota State University. Emily attended the Physician Assistant program at Red Rocks in Denver. Emily’s background is in community health, and she previously worked at two other Federally Qualified Health Centers in Colorado. Emily is passionate about the underserved having access to quality, affordable health care. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
A Salt Lake City native and fluent Spanish speaker, Dr. Aguirre brings a passion for manipulation, preventative medicine and sports medicine, including the education of young athletes and coaches in concussion risks. Dr. Aguirre attended Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and earned his board certification in family medicine at Southern Colorado Family Medicine in Pueblo, Colorado. Outside of medicine, he is a dedicated family man, outdoor enthusiast and avid baseball fan.
Dr. Gary Schreiner brings three decades of experience in private practice and institutional settings, including extensive experience with adolescents and the U.S. military, counseling servicemen and their families around the world. Previously he was also a school counselor and football and baseball coach. Dr. Schreiner holds a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University. A native Coloradan from Boulder, he chose life on the Western Slope for its slower pace and outdoor opportunities. Dr. Schreiner and his wife enjoy skiing, golf, scuba and travel.
Barbra Corcoran joined Mountain Family as a Behavioral Health Counselor in 2015. A longtime resident, Barb earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work in 2015, where she was recognized as a Western Colorado Area Health Professions Scholar and received the Dean Catherine F. Alter award. After hours, you’ll usually find Barbra with her husband and their four children.
Whitney Young joined Mountain Family in 2015, after working in an integrated care setting at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes and Children’s Hospital, in Aurora. Whitney holds a Master of Social Work in Health and Wellness, from the University of Denver. Originally from Maryland, Whitney loves the Colorado outdoors, spending free time skiing, rafting, and hiking with her dogs.
Melvin Betancourt was born and raised in Guaynabo City, Puerto Rico. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from La Universidad de Puerto Rico in 2002, and earned his Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of Central Florida in 2007. Melvin joined Mountain Family Health Centers in 2016, and brings his experience working with children, families and adults with mental health/behavioral problems. Melvin appreciates working in a team setting and making a difference in the community. He enjoys traveling, sports, hiking, and live music.
Sara Jacobs is a big believer in Mountain Family’s integrated approach to health care and solution-focused, strengths-based social work. Based at our Basalt clinic, she came to us from Mind Springs Health, where she has long experience in crisis assessment, individual therapy and case management for adults and seniors. Sara holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland. A Portland, Oregon, native, Sara has called the Roaring Fork Valley home since 2010. After hours, you’ll often find her cooking, skiing, and walking dogs at Aspen Animal Shelter.
Oyen Hoffman joined Mountain Family in 2016, and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Addiction Counselor. He is passionate about helping his patients and their families. Oyen earned his Master’s in Psychology with a Marriage and Family Therapy emphasis from Chapman University in 2012. He is also a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) with the National Association for Addiction Professionals and is certified to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by the International Association of Trauma Professionals and the National Center for PTSD. Oyen enjoys spending time with his family.
